Former Australian captain Brad Haddin expressed his view that Indian batters will face significant challenges against the formidable bowling lineup of the home team in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He specifically highlighted that the first Test in Perth would pose a tough challenge for young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who is embarking on his maiden tour to Australia. The first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is scheduled to commence at Perth's Optus Stadium on November 22. This series holds immense importance for both teams, as it directly impacts their chances of securing a spot in the ICC World Test Championship final. While the Australians are determined to avoid a third consecutive series loss to India on home soil, the visitors are equally motivated after suffering a humiliating whitewash against New Zealand in their recent three-match Test series, marking their first home series defeat in 12 years.
During an episode of the Willow Talk Podcast with Australia's T20 winning captain Aaron Finch, Brad Haddin stated: "I don't believe the Indian batters will withstand our fast bowlers. I am aware that Jaiswal is a talented player, but he has not yet experienced playing in Australia, so I am uncertain whether he will cope with the bounce. Opening in Perth is no easy task." In the 14 Tests since his debut last year, Jaiswal has established himself as a promising young opener in Test cricket. The left-hander has amassed 1,407 runs at an average of 56.28, including three centuries and eight fifties. However, his only outing outside Asia did not yield favorable results, as he managed just 50 runs in four innings in South Africa, where the pitches were conducive to seam bowling.
