A surface-to-surface missile launched from Yemen struck an uninhabited area in central Israel, resulting in no casualties, according to Israel's military on Sunday.
Shortly before the incident, air raid sirens blared in Tel Aviv and across central Israel, prompting residents to seek shelter. 'Following the sirens that sounded a short while ago in central Israel, a surface-to-surface missile was identified crossing into central Israel from the east and fell in an open area. No injuries were reported,' the military stated.
Loud explosions were also heard in the region, attributed by the military to missile interceptors that had been deployed. The military affirmed that its protective guidelines for Israel's residents remained unchanged.
A Reuters witness observed smoke rising from an open field in central Israel, though the cause of the fire—whether from the missile or debris of an interceptor—was unclear.
In July, Houthi forces in Yemen launched a long-range drone attack on Tel Aviv, resulting in one fatality and four injuries. This attack led Israel to conduct a significant air strike on Houthi military targets near Yemen's Hodeidah port, resulting in at least three deaths and 87 injuries.
