Authorities announced on Tuesday that 39 new private schools, nurseries, and universities are scheduled to open in Dubai for the upcoming academic year. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) stated that these institutions will add over 16,000 seats to the emirate's private school sector across various fee levels.
The new openings include five schools with UK curricula: Dubai British School Jumeirah, GEMS Founders School Dubai South, New Dawn Private School in Muhaisnah, Hampton Heights International School in Twar, and Springfield International School in Al Aweer. Additionally, one French-curriculum school, Lycée Francais Jean Mermoz South in Al Barsha South, is set to commence operations.
Twenty-nine new early childhood centres (ECCs) are also slated to open, along with seven centres that started welcoming students in June and July, including Dubai's first ECC offering the Chinese curriculum. Most new ECCs will provide the UK early years foundation stage curriculum.
The higher education sector is expanding with four new KHDA-licensed institutions opening during the 2024-25 academic year. These include SKEMA Business School from France, Plekhanov Russian University of Economics from Russia, Symbiosis International University from India, and Neohorizon School of Business, a UAE-China partnership, offering specialized master’s degrees in business.
Aisha Miran, director-general of KHDA, commented: “By welcoming these new educational institutions, we are enhancing opportunities for our children and youth. We are dedicated to bolstering Dubai’s status as a premier education destination and are committed to supporting the needs of our students, educators, and families. Together, we will ensure that every child in Dubai has access to top-tier education in a nurturing environment that fosters their potential and prepares them for the future.”
