The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX), recognized as one of the world's most rapidly expanding exchanges, marked Emirati Women's Day by acknowledging the substantial impact of Emirati women on both the financial industry and broader society. This year's event, centered around the theme "We Collaborate for Tomorrow," featured a special bell-ringing ceremony to honor trailblazing women in the field, including Al Dhabi Al Mehairi, the UAE's youngest entrepreneur at nine years old and the youngest individual to inaugurate trading at ADX.
By the close of July 2024, ADX had seen the number of female investors from the UAE surpass 309,000, constituting 77 percent of all female investors on the platform. The combined trading volume (purchases and sales) of Emirati women investors from January 1 to July 2024 totaled Dh7.6 billion, approximately 80 percent of the overall trading volume of Dh9.6 billion by all female investors. Additionally, the market value of shares owned by Emirati women amounted to Dh30 billion, out of a total of Dh33 billion held by women on ADX, indicating that Emirati women hold about 91 percent of all female-held shares on the exchange.
With women comprising 36 percent of ADX's staff, the exchange is dedicated to promoting gender balance in the financial sector, continually adopting policies that support women in all aspects of its business operations.
