A decree has been issued by the Ajman Ruler, applicable to all entities currently engaged in or planning to participate in petroleum product trading within Ajman and its free zones.

The establishment of the Ajman Higher Committee of Energy is outlined under Emiri Decree No. (8) of 2024, issued by Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, a member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman. The newly formed committee will have legal standing and the capacity to carry out its designated duties. It will operate under the supervision of the Chairman of the Ajman Executive Council.

According to the decree, the Chairman of the Ajman Executive Council will appoint the members of the Higher Committee of Energy based on their proven expertise and experience in relevant areas. The committee members will serve for a three-year term.

The Higher Committee of Energy will be responsible for overseeing the trading of petroleum products within the emirate in line with international best practices; optimizing the level of services related to the energy sector; aligning the emirate's energy sector with global trends and developments; enhancing safety and security measures within the Emirate; and ensuring that operating establishments and related entities comply with all applicable federal and local regulations.

The decree overrides any conflicting provisions in other legislations. It will take effect from the date of its issuance and will be published in the Official Gazette.
