Almost a year after its initial release, the survival-horror game Alan Wake 2 is gearing up for a significant update centered around quality-of-life improvements and enhanced accessibility options. The Anniversary Update, scheduled for release on October 22, will be available for free to all players and will incorporate various tweaks and changes based on community input.

Among the notable gameplay enhancements are the introduction of a quick-turn function, the option to invert the X (horizontal) axis on both mouse and controller, in addition to the Y (vertical) axis, and improvements to haptic feedback on the PS5. Additionally, gyro-aiming motion-control support is being added, and haptics will now function with healing items and throwables, not just weapons.

For those who wish to focus solely on the game's narrative and puzzles, there will be gameplay toggles to explore, such as one-shot kills, player immortality, and infinite ammo. This approach mirrors what Remedy did with Control, allowing players who encounter difficulty to bypass obstacles using these optional settings.

Here's a comprehensive list of what players can anticipate: Since its launch last year, Remedy has expanded Alan Wake 2 with its first DLC, Night Springs. The second expansion, The Lake House, is set to release on October 22 and will closely tie in with Control, Remedy's 2019 game. The recent trailer during the October Xbox Partner Preview hinted that Dylan Faden, brother of Control's protagonist Jesse Faden, is trapped inside the titular Lake House. As FBC Agent Estevez, players will need to unravel this eerie mystery.

Remedy is also actively working on future projects, including remakes of the first two Max Payne games and its multiplayer game set in the Control universe, FBC: Firebreak.
