After more than a decade, the Audi RS6 has a new rival: the BMW M5 Touring. Both vehicles cater to those who refuse to compromise, offering the spaciousness and comfort of a station wagon alongside performance typically reserved for sports cars. The M5 Touring returns after a hiatus since 2010, maintaining the aesthetic and characteristics of its sedan counterpart but with slight elongation and increased track widths.
The M5 Touring features enhanced aerodynamics with new front and rear bumpers, a splitter, a large spoiler, and side skirts. It boasts twin exhaust tips in black chrome and specially designed alloy wheels with tires ranging from 285/40 ZR20 at the front to 295/35 ZR21 at the rear. Inside, the car is luxuriously appointed with leather options, a thick-rimmed steering wheel, and an array of high-tech features including a Bowers & Wilkins sound system and a dual-screen infotainment setup.
In contrast, the Audi RS6, despite its 2019 debut, maintains a fashionable and aggressive appearance with a unique grille design, muscular flanks, and optional red brake calipers. The interior mirrors the exterior's angular lines, featuring a refined dashboard with piano black and aluminum moldings, dual screens, and a variety of upholstery and insert options.
Under the hood, the M5 Touring houses a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine paired with an electric motor, delivering a combined 727 hp and accelerating from 0 to 62 mph in 3.6 seconds. The RS6, on the other hand, is powered by a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine with mild-hybrid technology, offering 600 hp in the base model and 630 hp in the Performance version.
The 2025 BMW M5 Touring starts at $122,675 in the US, while the Audi RS6 is priced slightly higher at $127,695. Both models offer extensive customization options that can significantly increase the final price.
