The British High Commissioner to India, Lindy Cameron, has extended her congratulations to India and the United Kingdom for their participation in the ongoing multilateral exercise Tarang Shakti. Cameron highlighted that the defence and security cooperation between the two nations transcends sea, land, and air. The Royal Air Force (RAF) of the United Kingdom collaborated with the Indian Air Force (IAF) and air forces from Germany, Spain, and France in the initial phase of the IAF's inaugural multilateral exercise, Tarang Shakti, which commenced on Tuesday.
The RAF contingent, which included 130 personnel, six Eurofighter Typhoons, two A330 Voyager air-to-air refuellers, and an A-400M military transport aircraft, arrived at Sulur Air Force Station in Tamil Nadu. According to a press release from the British High Commission, this exercise offers a valuable chance for the RAF to collaborate closely with the IAF and other nations in a more demanding multilateral setting, thereby significantly improving interoperability and exchanging best practices.
Lindy Cameron, the British High Commissioner to India, expressed her delight at the Royal Air Force being a key participant in the Indian Air Force's first multilateral air exercise, Tarang Shakti. She emphasized the importance of joint efforts by their armed forces to maintain stability and promote prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region. Group Captain Neil Jones, the Air Adviser at the British High Commission, also praised the exercise, noting its significant contribution to the ongoing relationship between the air forces of the two countries.
Jones stated that participating in a multilateral environment offers unique exposure to new challenges and facilitates the integration of tactics and skills across all specializations. For the Royal Air Force, this exercise also showcases their capability to deploy and sustain air operations over long distances and maintain a robust presence in the Indo-Pacific while working alongside partner nations.
