Winter is nearly upon us — and residents of Al Ain likely felt a chilly breeze this morning, according to the temperature readings from the Meteorology department. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) reported that temperatures dipped to a crisp 14.7°C in Al Ain's Raknah at 6:30am today.
Raknah is a beloved destination among locals, particularly during winter when snow and hail often cover its desert slopes. During these cold months, Raknah frequently experiences the lowest temperatures, sometimes plummeting to a freezing 0°C or even lower. There was a time when groups of friends would venture to the area to enjoy the snow, hailstones, and ice, often gathering around a bonfire while bundled up in their warmest jackets and coats.
Will Raknah once again experience sub-zero temperatures? We'll have to wait until the winter season reaches its peak around January.
