A wealthy woman from China has become the talk of social media due to her act of retaliation against employees at a Louis Vuitton (LV) store whom she felt had mistreated her. This incident, which netizens have labeled as the "most satisfying act of revenge of the year," has ignited both praise and discussion online.
As reported by the South China Morning Post, the saga commenced in June at the StarLight Place shopping mall in Chongqing, southwestern China. The woman, known by the pseudonym "xiaomayouren" on the social media app Xiaohongshu, detailed a frustrating encounter at the LV boutique that made her feel disregarded and disrespected. Bearing a Hermes handbag, she entered the LV store with the intention of buying clothing. Yet, she encountered what she perceived as a cold and aloof demeanor from the staff. Her plea for water was overlooked, and instead of being introduced to new arrivals, she was shown outdated seasonal items. When she requested to view some dresses that would suit her, the staff reportedly exhibited eye-rolling and impatience.
Feeling humiliated, the woman exited the store and tried to lodge a complaint with the luxury brand's headquarters, but her concerns were brushed off. This incident left her harboring resentment for two months, until she chose to address the situation herself. In August, she returned to the store with a large bag containing 600,000 yuan (approximately Dh309,176.33) in cash. Accompanied by her personal assistant and a friend, she perused some clothing and informed the sales staff of her intent to buy. However, when it was time to pay, she presented the bag of cash.
The sales staff, now tasked with the laborious job of counting the substantial amount, spent two hours doing so. But just as they finished, the woman delivered the final blow: "We no longer wish to purchase. We are departing." She later recounted the incident on Xiaohongshu, stating, "After they had finished counting, I simply reclaimed my money and left. It's absurd to think I would buy their products to enhance their work performance."
