Christina Applegate has opened up about the challenging impact of her battle with Multiple Sclerosis. The 'Dead To Me' actress, diagnosed with MS in early 2021, has been candid about how the condition, which affects the brain and nerves, has altered her daily life and career in Hollywood. During Tuesday's episode of her 'MeSsy' podcast, Applegate discussed her experiences with co-host Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who also has the autoimmune disease, and guest Rory Kandel, who lives with the condition as well.

'I lay in bed screaming — like, the sharp pains, the ache, that squeezing,' Applegate, 52, shared. Kandel related a similar ordeal, describing feeling like she has 'knives in my stomach.' 'I'll be laying in bed, and I wake up, and I physically can't turn from side to side,' she added, to which the 'Married… with Children' star responded, 'Every single day of my life.'

'I can't even pick up my phone sometimes because now it's traveled into my hands, so I'll, like, try to go get my phone or get my remote to turn on the TV or sometimes, I can't even hold them. I can't open bottles now,' she continued. Applegate previously disclosed that her condition has necessitated the use of a cane for mobility.

According to Mayo Clinic, MS leads to a breakdown 'of the protective covering of nerves,' resulting in numbness and difficulty moving. It can also impair vision. Applegate further explained that the intense pain has also made it difficult for her to get out of bed in the morning.

'I put my feet on the ground and they're hurting, like, extraordinarily bad to the touch,' she detailed. 'I was like, 'Yep. Gonna get back in my bed and pee in my diaper because I don't feel like walking all the way to the damn bathroom.' 'I actually don't lay here and pee in my bed diaper. That's just a joke. But it's like it's so freaking painful and so hard and so awkward,' the 'Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy' actress added.

Applegate's revelations come after she disclosed that her 13-year-old daughter Sadie had been diagnosed with POTS.
