If you participate in the Empire Pint Of Milk interview, you'll be faced with a series of highly specific questions. These include, of course, 'How much is a pint of milk?' and 'When were you last naked outdoors?' as well as 'What song would you like to have played at your funeral?' The responses invariably reveal previously undisclosed details about the person being interviewed. Take, for example, Danny Dyer – the iconic figure from Human Traffic, and now a star in Disney+'s hit Rivals. When he underwent the Pint Of Milk treatment in the Mickey 17 issue of Empire – available from Thursday 24 October – he shared insights into a hobby that might surprise his fans. “I enjoy building things. I'm currently working on something. It's a library,” Dyer reveals to Empire, displaying a small wooden model. “This one is quite challenging because I have to wire it up with electricity, so the lamps function.” If his model-making passion has led him to tackle more complex projects, Dyer's initial interest was sparked by a LEGO phase during the COVID lockdown. “I went through a crazy LEGO phase during lockdown,” he explains. “I built Hogwarts, which was incredible. So LEGO really got me hooked, and I thought, 'Actually, I want to build other things.' I have these magnifying glasses, I look ridiculous, like Doc from Back To The Future. But it keeps me indoors.” Once the library is complete, Dyer already has his next project lined up. “It's a 1940s train carriage,” he says. “And there's a moving window behind it so it looks like the train is moving. It looks quite challenging, but I'll start that once I've finished my library. I just love it, I can spend all day on it. I suppose it doesn't really fit my public image. But I think a man approaching 50 needs a hobby.” So, if you spot Danny Dyer in the LEGO shop – or browsing the Airfix section at your local Hobbycraft – rest assured: you're not imagining things.
