This year's event, much like last year's, revolves around exploring Haunted Sectors—Lost Sectors that have been spookily redecorated and are now teeming with menacing pumpkin-headed enemies. However, the event has been streamlined: Spectral Pages have been completely removed, allowing you to concentrate solely on gathering Manifested Pages and using them to unlock tales in the Book of the Forgotten. Along the way, you'll also earn the Ghost Writer title, which is relatively straightforward to obtain if you're willing to farm Haunted Sectors. Here's a guide on how to easily acquire Manifested Pages and what to do with them.
To begin your Festival of the Lost adventure, head over to Eva Levante at the Tower. After completing the introductory Haunted Sector quest, you can start uncovering the Shrouded Pages in the Book of the Forgotten. This year, the process is more straightforward. Previously, you had to collect Spectral Pages, which could then be converted into Manifested Pages. Now, you can earn Manifested Pages directly. These pages are obtainable throughout the game as rewards for completing various activities, but you must be wearing a Festival of the Lost mask to qualify for them. Additionally, Manifested Pages are awarded for completing Haunted Sectors, even if you're not wearing a mask, though it's advisable to wear one throughout the event, which runs from October 29 to November 12.
When exploring Haunted Sectors, prioritize taking down Headless One enemies. Defeat 10 Headless Ones in a single run, and you'll receive extra Manifested Pages on top of the usual rewards. Historically, higher quantities of pages are awarded for participating in more challenging activities, such as Heroic Public Events. However, you'll need to weigh the additional time required to complete these harder versions. Strategies for quickly farming pages, such as using checkpoints, often emerge, and we'll keep you updated if any viable methods are discovered.
Haunted Sectors are essentially three-player Lost Sectors featuring a special enemy type called Headless Ones. Focus on eliminating as many Headless Ones as possible, as taking down 10 in a single run will earn you extra Manifested Pages, making the event less of a grind. For those seeking a greater challenge, an Expert version of Haunted Sectors is available, offering more Manifested Pages and high-stat masks. Note that matchmaking has been removed, but you can now use Fireteam Finder to team up with others.
Manifested Pages can be used to purchase new volumes in the Book of the Forgotten, located near Eva. The prices for these volumes range from just one (the new price for all previous volumes) to many more. Unlocking these volumes is key to completing the event and earning various rewards and completing event challenges. Festival of the Lost offers a variety of rewards, including a new shotgun called Arcane Embrace, and the highly sought-after Superblack shader. Additionally, the event provides a way to bypass Dual Destiny and gain access to Exotic class items.
