Recently, voice actor Doug Cockle disclosed that Geralt would appear in The Witcher 4, but he has since retracted those statements after receiving a "slap" from developer CD Projekt Red for speaking out of turn. During the MCM Comic Con Birmingham event, Cockle clarified that his initial remarks were rooted in "a rumor" and that he is unsure whether Geralt will actually be part of The Witcher 4. "I went online and mentioned something about this, and then I was corrected by CD Projekt because... I'm not certain how accurate it is," he explained, as reported by GamesRadar. "I based my comments on a rumor—I thought I had seen someone from CD Projekt mention that Geralt will be in Witcher 4 but won't be the main character. Now, I'm not sure if that's true, as they responded by saying, 'We haven't confirmed anything, so don't share any information!'"
Cockle further stated that he has no knowledge of the storyline for The Witcher 4 or whether Geralt will be included. "Witcher 4 is a complete mystery to me," he admitted. In August, Cockle had confidently stated, "What we know is that Geralt will be part of the game. We just don't know how significant his role will be, and the game won't focus on Geralt, so it's not centered around him this time." However, in the same interview, he acknowledged that he might have been misleading with his statements.
Regarding the developers' stance, CD Projekt Red's joint-CEO MichaĆ Nowakowski has clarified that The Witcher 4 won't simply be "Witcher 3 with a new coat of paint." Instead, Nowakowski emphasized that players can expect "new gameplay elements and mechanics" that were not present in the original trilogy featuring Geralt. Currently, over 400 people are working on The Witcher 4, which is now in full production. For more details, check out everything we know so far about The Witcher 4.
