When Dragon Age: The Veilguard launches next month, players will have the opportunity to level their characters up to level 50, nearly double the cap of previous games in the franchise. BioWare, the developer behind the Dragon Age series, has already mapped out most of the potential leveling paths for gamers. According to game director Corinne Busche, BioWare is keen to see if players can surprise them with builds that challenge the game's leveling system.

"We want players to discover unique builds," Busche told Windows Central. "We want them to feel like they can outsmart us. Perhaps not to the point of breaking the game, so when we encounter such builds, we aim to incorporate them. But honestly, nothing would please me more than someone outsmarting our top designers."

During the interview, Busche explained that the difficulty in The Veilguard is designed to scale with the player's level. For instance, even players who reach level 50 will still face a formidable challenge. However, it's conceivable that inventive players might find ways to level up their characters to a point where they significantly outclass their foes.

Character builds that unbalance the game in favor of the players may face adjustments in future updates for The Veilguard. Nonetheless, this doesn't mean players can't enjoy the thrill of these high-powered characters in the meantime.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is set to release on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC on October 31.
