The eighth edition of the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) saw 83% of participants report improved sleep quality after completing the month-long event, along with significant enhancements in both physical health and mental well-being. According to DFC data, 18% of participants felt more physically fit, while 15% noted improvements in their overall sense of well-being. Held from October 26 to November 4, 2024, the challenge concluded with a record-breaking 2,735,158 participants, marking a 14% increase from the previous year. This year's event, part of a city-wide initiative launched by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, aimed to encourage 30 minutes of daily exercise for 30 days.

A standout feature of DFC 2024 was the wide array of free activities and events across the city. With 30 x 30 fitness villages at popular spots like Kite Beach, Zabeel Park, and Al Warqa’a Park, participants enjoyed various workouts, sports events, and kids’ activities. In total, 467,288 people visited these venues during the challenge. Additionally, 25 community hubs were established, attracting over 60,000 participants to free fitness classes led by professional trainers.

Flagship events such as Dubai Stand-Up Paddle (SUP), Dubai Ride, and Dubai Run drew thousands of residents and visitors. The second annual Dubai Stand-Up Paddle at Hatta Dam saw 2,330 participants, up from 1,000 last year, enjoying activities like paddleboarding, kayaking, and sunset yoga. Dubai Ride, the region’s largest community cycling event, set a new record with 37,130 participants, offering routes ranging from 4km to 12km. Dubai Run 2024 attracted 278,000 runners, with participants tackling 10km and 5km routes along Sheikh Zayed Road.

To assist participants, DFC provided an interactive map to locate fitness venues and track events. Popular fitness apps like Whoop, Technogym, and ASICS Runkeeper partnered with DFC to offer additional support and motivation. DFC is becoming a cornerstone in Dubai’s mission to be one of the world’s most active cities, promoting an active lifestyle and improving city infrastructure with new parks, fitness centers, and outdoor workout areas.

This year’s success underscores the continued growth of DFC and its positive community impact. “With 2,735,158 participants this year and over 13 million to date, we have demonstrated the power of DFC to make a healthier lifestyle accessible to all,” said Saeed Hareb, Secretary-General of the Dubai Sports Council. Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, noted, “This eighth edition was more inclusive and accessible, helping millions of residents and visitors achieve their 30 x 30 goals.”

Beyond main events, DFC supported local communities. Fit Republik held special Zumba classes for female blue-collar workers and elderly residents. The event was powered by various entities, including the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, Dubai Sports Council, and numerous partners and sponsors.
