Approximately 3,800 e-scooters, bicycles, and e-bikes were confiscated by the Naif Police Station within its jurisdiction due to various infractions, including use in non-designated areas or on public roads, according to Dubai Police on Saturday.
Brigadier Omar Musa Ashour, the acting director of Naif Police Station, revealed that since the start of this year, a total of 3,779 vehicles were seized, comprising 2,286 bicycles, 771 e-bikes, and 722 scooters. He emphasized that "Dubai Police is unwavering in its efforts to enhance road safety and maintain a secure environment through rigorous traffic enforcement aimed at curbing violations, apprehending reckless drivers, and contributing to road security, thereby reducing fatal accidents."
Brigadier Ashour also highlighted the necessity of adhering to safety and security protocols when operating scooters, electric, or conventional bicycles. This includes riding in designated lanes, avoiding jogging or walking paths, not carrying passengers on electric scooters or items that might compromise balance, and refraining from significant modifications to the vehicle.
Dubai Police urged cyclists to strictly adhere to traffic regulations and guidelines, stay on authorized roads and lanes, and comply with all safety and security requirements specified in designated areas to ensure public safety. They also encouraged the public to report any negative behaviors or hazardous actions via the "Police Eye" service available on the Dubai Police smartphone app or by dialing the "We Are All Police" service at 901.
