Dubai residents can anticipate a more efficient transportation system as 300 new taxis are set to join the city's roads. The Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) recently announced that it has secured 300 new license plates at the latest auction conducted by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai. This acquisition boosts DTC's taxi fleet to nearly 6,000 vehicles, elevating its market share in the taxi sector to 46 percent. This expansion aims to meet the escalating demand for sustainable and efficient transport in the emirate, fueled by robust population and economic growth.

The enlarged fleet is projected to generate an additional Dh100 million in annual revenue. Mansoor Rahma Al Falasi, CEO of Dubai Taxi Company, stated, "The allocation of 300 new plates is a pivotal element of DTC's fleet expansion plan. By 2024, our fleet is expected to grow by approximately 10 percent, reaching close to 9,000 vehicles across all our service segments, including taxis, limousines, buses, and motorcycles." He emphasized, "Our investments in growth, innovation, and customer-focused solutions reinforce our status as the premier transport operator in Dubai."

Among the 300 new plates, 25 percent will be designated for electric taxis, reflecting the company's dedication to sustainability. Al Falasi added, "This initiative is integral to our strategy to adopt innovative, low-carbon mobility solutions and support Dubai's goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050."
