Dubai is set to host the upcoming edition of the Iraq Britain Business Council’s (IBBC) Autumn Conference, themed “Growing Opportunities,” on December 13.
Abdullah Al Saleh, the undersecretary of the UAE’s Ministry of Economy, will deliver the welcome address. The UAE is also backing a new incubator for AI and Fintech in Iraq, which is expected to be unveiled in 2025.
“The IBBC Autumn Conference in Dubai 2024 provides unmatched networking opportunities with leading industry figures and policymakers who are shaping the business landscape in Iraq, the UAE, and beyond,” said Christophe Michels, director of IBBC.
“For businesses and investors looking for growth, Iraq offers robust returns in a stable environment, solidifying its role as a key player in Middle Eastern opportunities,” noted Vikas Handa, chairman of the conference.
Iraq is experiencing its most substantial expansion in three decades, with stability improving and investment opportunities reaching approximately $400 billion in infrastructure, housing, and the ambitious Dry Road initiative from Al Faw port to Turkey. The International Monetary Fund projects Iraq’s GDP to grow by 5.3 per cent in 2025.
The conference will feature Iraq’s leading businesses, including major energy companies like BP, Shell, and BGC, along with their construction partners such as Wood Group, KSA, GE, and Siemens, as well as financial services giants like SC, IFC, and the Central Bank of Iraq.
Notably, UAE businesses will be interested in the development of a new maritime agency by IBBC’s maritime companies, which will serve the Al Faw port and support Iraq’s regional trade ambitions.
