2024 has already been a significant year for DC's Dark Knight, with the releases of Joker: Folie à Deux, The Penguin, and Batman: Caped Crusader. However, now it's time for Robin to step into the limelight. More precisely, it's the Robins' turn, as Batman's first two sidekicks, Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, are set to star in their own animated origin movie titled Dynamic Duo.
According to Deadline, The Batman director Matt Reeves is producing Dynamic Duo, which is not connected to his Batman Epic Crime Saga universe. The script is penned by Matthew Aldrich, and the animation will be handled by Arthur Mintz and Theresa Andersson's new studio, Swaybox. Mintz is also slated to direct the film.
DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn confirmed the news on social media shortly after it broke. Swaybox's unique animation style blends CGI animation, stop-motion animation, and live-action real-time performances, a technique they call 'Momo animation.'
In a statement, Reeves expressed his excitement, saying, 'I have wanted to make a film with Arthur and Swaybox for many years, and for that film to be Dynamic Duo, an incredibly special and unique Batman and Robin story for families, is a dream.'
Gunn and Peter Safran will join Reeves as producers on Dynamic Duo, though the film currently does not have a release date.
