If rally is your passion, the Eifel Rallye Festival must be on your must-visit list. Over the last ten years, this stage rally event in Germany has showcased some of the world's most iconic rally cars. It offers spectators a unique opportunity to witness classic vehicles from the past six decades pushing their limits.
The 2024 edition of the Eifel Rallye Festival recently concluded, and the participants this year were nothing short of spectacular. The Zero Understeer YouTube channel was present to capture all the action, including cars drifting and emitting flames. Once you start watching, it's hard to stop.
The diversity of cars in the rally is impressive, yet each one is sure to evoke excitement. Among them are genuine Group B cars like the Lancia Delta S4 and Ford RS200, as well as later models from the 1990s such as the Subaru Impreza and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. Other notable entries include a Porsche 911 GT3, a Ferrari 308, an E30 BMW M3, and a Group 4 Lancia Stratos. There are also numerous Ford Escorts, Mercedes 190Es, and French hot hatches.
The most intriguing car of the event is the all-black Toyota 222D. One of only ten running prototypes, it was designed to be Toyota's contender in the Group B category, loosely based on the MR2 and featuring the all-wheel drive system from the then unreleased Celica GT-Four. Although it never competed as Group B was disbanded before its debut, it is now at the Eifel Rally, giving us a glimpse of what might have been.
