Eight individuals have perished and twenty-eight others sustained injuries as a result of a building collapse in Lucknow's Transport Nagar area on Saturday evening, according to a report issued by the Relief Commissioner's Office on Sunday. The injured were transported to three hospitals for medical attention.

The report indicates that the building in question was a three-storey medical warehouse situated in Lucknow. "We are optimistic that we have rescued all individuals. We anticipate completing the rescue operation within the next 5-6 hours and will also ensure the safety of surrounding buildings," stated Deputy Commissioner of Police RN Singh.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken note of the incident and directed officials to expedite relief efforts. He instructed officials to swiftly transport the injured to hospitals for appropriate treatment. CM Yogi expressed hope for the swift recovery of the injured.

Prime Minister Modi, via the social media platform X, expressed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the incident. He also announced relief measures for the families of the deceased and those injured. An ex-gratia of Rs200,000 will be provided to the families of the deceased, and Rs50,000 for the injured, from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund.

Officials are currently on-site and monitoring the situation. Rescue operations are in progress.
