Earlier this year, Embark Studios—co-founded by Battlefield veteran Patrick Soderlund—made a significant change to Arc Raiders. Initially planned as a free-to-play shooter, the game was repositioned as a premium release. The latest gameplay video for Arc Raiders now showcases the compelling post-apocalyptic world that bolstered Embark Studios' confidence in this decision. Set in a future where humanity has retreated underground to escape the deadly Arc machines, programmed to eliminate any humans they encounter, players take on the role of Raiders. These brave individuals venture to the surface to gather essential supplies, navigating not only the Arc machines but also rival Raiders intent on claiming the resources for themselves.

Survival is precarious; even with a team, the odds are stacked against you. Smaller Arc machines patrol relentlessly, while larger ones are formidable foes. Enemy Raiders can ambush your team before extraction, drawing the attention of the Arc machines, which view all humans as targets. Despite being in development, Arc Raiders is already shaping up well. Embark Studios plans to release the game on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2025.
