Nvidia has announced that Forza Motorsport will receive a new PC-only update on December 9, introducing ray-traced global illumination lighting (RTGI) to further elevate the game's already impressive visuals.
Essentially, RTGI leverages existing illumination technology to compute more precise indirect lighting and occlusion in real-time, across both tracks and cars. This enhancement makes the game's hyper-realistic graphics even more striking, affecting gameplay, cinematics, and photo mode alike.
To enable RTGI, set the 'Raytracing Quality' option to 'Full Reflections + RTGI' and choose a quality level under 'RTGI Quality.' However, this feature will demand high-end hardware and may impact frame rates, prompting Nvidia to recommend enabling either DLSS or DLAA to mitigate performance issues.
The Forza series has often been a showcase for Nvidia's latest graphical advancements. Last year, Nvidia integrated DLSS 3 support into Forza Horizon 5. Additionally, Forza Horizon 4 is set to be delisted and removed from Game Pass on December 15, so players should secure their copies while they still can.
In GameSpot's review of Forza Motorsport, we noted, 'Forza Motorsport marks a triumphant return for the simulation racing series, offering an experience that is both approachable and rewarding like never before.'
