The extravagant wedding of Anant Ambani, son of billionaire Mukesh Ambani, to Radhika Merchant has captured global attention due to its grand scale. The festivities, which have been ongoing for months, have already welcomed international leaders and famous personalities at various pre-wedding events. This week, Justin Bieber took the spotlight with a performance at the sangeet that quickly went viral online, reportedly earning him $10 million (Dh36 million).
In addition to the main event, Mukesh and Nita Ambani organized mass weddings for 50 underprivileged couples in Navi Mumbai, adding a humanitarian touch to the celebrations. The luxurious nature of an Ambani wedding was further highlighted by the involvement of Dubai-based couturier Faraz Manan, who has dressed several high-profile guests, earning them praise on the Internet. Manan, a Pakistani designer based in the UAE, is known for his cross-border appeal and has often seen his exquisite designs worn by global celebrities.
At the Ambani wedding, notable personalities such as Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Shloka Mehta, Akash Ambani, Anand Piramal, and Orry were seen in custom-made Faraz Manan outfits. These ensembles blend traditional grandeur with modern elements, exemplified by Ranbir Kapoor’s all-black sherwani, which featured a geometric design inspired by art deco. Manan explained, “It was a signature Faraz Manan cut inspired by art deco geometry of overlapping arches. Embroidery has been an integral part of the brand and that’s why you see his outfit adorned with the timeless elegance of gold and black Swarovskis on the band collar.”
Alia Bhatt also chose an all-black lehenga, designed in a signature Faraz Manan style, featuring oriental art deco-inspired embellishments. Manan’s expertise in crafting dream-like outfits was also showcased last year when he designed Pakistani star Mahira Khan’s wedding lehenga, which was widely admired for its blend of opulence and contemporary minimalism. Additionally, Manan has collaborated closely with Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor Khan, who has represented several of his collections.
