Jack Grealish, having previously played for Ireland's youth teams before committing to England, is likely to face jeers from the crowd during the Nations League clash in Dublin, according to Ireland forward Callum Robinson. Grealish, a Manchester City player, was omitted from England's Euro 2024 lineup by ex-coach Gareth Southgate but was recently reselected by interim boss Lee Carsley for upcoming games against Ireland and Finland.
Robinson, who followed a similar path to Grealish by starting with England's youth squads before opting for Ireland, anticipates that the 28-year-old will manage the hostile atmosphere. "I believe he's preparing for some taunts, but that's just part of the sport," Robinson, who was once Grealish's teammate at Aston Villa, commented on Tuesday. "He's mature enough and now that he's a seasoned player, he'll encounter this kind of treatment." Robinson added, "I wouldn't be shocked if he does, considering he's often booed wherever he plays, even in England."
