“Kiss her already!” That’s the phrase Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster would often hear from the audience while performing together in “The Music Man.” The duo did indeed share a memorable on-stage chemistry. Long before rumors of a new romance surfaced, the actors appeared on “Late Night With Seth Meyers” to promote their Broadway musical post-COVID.

“Broadway was dormant for nearly two years. There’s a palpable sense of gratitude shared between the performers and the audience. The show is incredibly joyful, and I’m relishing every moment playing opposite this incredible man,” Foster, 49, enthusiastically shared in May 2022.

“You had to say that, but thank you,” Jackman, 56, playfully responded.

“I did! It’s a dream come true, truly,” Foster added.

The pair portrayed Professor Harold Hill and Marian Paroo, respectively, and fondly recalled some of their most cherished scenes. “The Music Man” graced The Great White Way from December 2021 to January 2023.

“In the second act, we have a lengthy scene where our characters start to fall for each other. During this, someone in the audience kept sneezing repeatedly. At one point, he said, ‘Bless you,’” the “Younger” actress recounted to host Seth Meyers.

“Then the scene ended, and he exited, leaving me on stage to face the audience alone,” she added.

Both actors admitted to feeling “intimidated” by each other initially. “Yes, you’re Hugh Jackman,” Foster exclaimed on the NBC late-night show. “Our names were plastered on a giant billboard. I was convinced I’d be fired within weeks.”

Jackman acknowledged his own intimidation. “This is a six-time Tony nominee, two-time winner. I saw her in ‘Thoroughly Modern Millie’ when she was just 4. I’ve followed her career closely,” he praised. “In my first show, ‘Beauty and the Beast,’ I had to take weekly singing lessons as per my contract.”

Recently, news broke that Jackman and Foster are “in love” but have kept their relationship under wraps. “They spend all their free time together,” a source told Page Six. “They are a regular couple, just discreet.”

Foster recently filed for divorce from her husband of 10 years, screenwriter Ted Griffin. The couple shares an adopted daughter. She also listed her Tuxedo Park, NY, home for $2.2 million.

Jackman, on the other hand, announced the end of his 27-year marriage to actress Deborra-Lee Furness in September 2023. “Deborra-Lee suspected something when Hugh started working with Sutton,” a source told the Daily Mail. “Their relationship isn’t a secret to her.”
