On Tuesday, India dispatched four vessels and two aircraft to locate three missing coastguard personnel following a helicopter crash in the Arabian Sea during a rescue mission. The coastguard helicopter was attempting to save an injured crew member from an Indian-flagged tanker, approximately 45 kilometers off the western coast of Gujarat, late on Monday.

"The helicopter was forced to make an emergency hard landing and subsequently sank into the sea," the Indian Coast Guard stated in a release. "One crew member has been recovered, and the search for the other three is ongoing." The statement also confirmed that the wreckage of the helicopter had been located. The helicopter crew had recently been involved in rescuing numerous individuals stranded in late August due to severe flash floods caused by heavy monsoon rains in Gujarat, which resulted in at least 28 fatalities.
