Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is set to be one of the next major Xbox games, with the game's creative director aiming for a consistent 60fps performance across both Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. In an interview with Windows Central, Axel Torvenius expressed the team's ambition to ensure the game runs smoothly at 60fps on both consoles, emphasizing the importance of a cohesive experience without compromising visuals or gameplay.

Torvenius noted that more technical details might be revealed closer to the game's launch, once the team has gathered sufficient performance data. This approach is typical in game development, where final performance metrics are often determined near the release date due to ongoing optimization efforts.

The discussion around the performance capabilities of the Series X and Series S consoles has been ongoing, with some developers expressing concerns about the Series S's limitations. For instance, Baldur's Gate 3 faced delays on Xbox due to issues with the Series S version, and Stalker 2 developer GSC Game World initially deemed it impossible to bring the game to Series S.

Despite the Series S initially outselling the Series X in the US post-2020 launch, the Series X has since taken the lead, accounting for 51% of all Series X and S sales. The Series S's early lead was partly due to pandemic-related supply chain issues, but Microsoft anticipates the Series S will outperform the Series X by the end of the current generation due to its lower price point.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is scheduled for release on December 9 and will be available on Game Pass as well as for direct purchase on Xbox and PC. A PS5 version is planned for Spring 2025. Additionally, the game includes a disclaimer stating that the developer does not support or endorse Nazi ideologies.

GameSpot's Kurt Indovina recently shared his positive early impressions of the game, comparing it favorably to Dishonored and highlighting its deep understanding of the Indiana Jones franchise, making it a promising entry not just for fans but for the adventure genre overall.
