IndiGo Airlines expressed regret on Saturday following issues encountered by passengers on the Delhi-Varanasi flight due to a malfunction in the aircraft's air conditioning (AC) system. Insiders at IndiGo revealed that while the AC system was operational, a sudden temperature change caused the cabin to overheat, resulting in distress among the passengers.
"We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience faced on flight 6E 2235 from Delhi to Varanasi on September 5, 2024," stated a release from the airline. "The discomfort was due to variations in cabin temperature, which were promptly managed upon passenger feedback. Our cabin crew swiftly provided aid to the passengers affected by the situation," the statement further noted.
A video capturing the incident, which occurred on Thursday, depicts passengers in a state of severe discomfort. It is reported that several travelers fainted from the intense heat and lack of air, while others resorted to using magazines to try and cool down.
This incident mirrors a previous occurrence in June, where the AC system on an IndiGo flight between Delhi and Bagdogra ceased functioning for an hour.
