Instagram has introduced a new feature enabling users to publicly comment on Stories, significantly altering the platform's user interaction dynamics. Previously, interactions with Stories were confined to private messages sent via Direct Messages (DMs). Now, comments on Stories will be visible to all viewers, akin to comments on regular Instagram posts. This update parallels the commenting experience on Instagram Live, where viewers can leave comments visible to all participants in real time.

Users now have the option to decide whether to permit public comments on their Stories or to retain the traditional DM option, based on their individual preferences. A notable aspect of this feature is the poster's ability to manage the visibility of comments on their Stories. They can choose to enable or disable comments, depending on the desired level of audience engagement. However, commenting is limited to mutual followers—only those who follow each other can post comments. Similar to Stories, these comments will vanish after 24 hours.

This update enhances the dynamic and engaging nature of Instagram, while still allowing users to maintain control over their privacy and the type of engagement on their Stories.
