Iran is set to conduct its presidential election on June 28, following the tragic demise of President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter accident. Iranian citizens residing in the UAE will have the opportunity to vote, as announced by a senior diplomat to Khaleej Times. Iranian Ambassador Reza Ameri confirmed that voting stations will be established at the embassy in Abu Dhabi and the consulate in Dubai. Ameri emphasized that the election on June 28 will proceed smoothly, ensuring that Iranians in the UAE can participate at designated polling locations. He also reassured that the leadership transition in Iran will be seamless despite President Raisi's untimely death. The presidential elections, initially planned for 2025, were advanced due to the sudden passing of Raisi on May 19. Thousands gathered in Tehran's Valiasr Square to mourn Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian. In the UAE, a condolence book is available for both officials and expatriates. Ameri expressed gratitude to regional and global leaders for their condolences, including UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, who attended Raisi's funeral in Tehran. Ameri, who arrived in the UAE last June, deeply mourned Raisi's loss, describing him as a leader deeply connected with the Iranian populace. Raisi, aged 63, perished in a helicopter crash near the Azerbaijan border. Ameri recounted Raisi's dedication to visiting rural areas and provinces, emphasizing his hands-on approach to governance. The tragic incident occurred shortly after Raisi inaugurated a joint dam between Iran and Azerbaijan, with plans to subsequently visit Tabriz for another project opening. The accident deeply affected Iran and the international community due to Raisi's and Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian's popularity. Regarding the ongoing conflict in Gaza, Ameri reiterated Iran's stance that the issue stems from Israel's occupation of Palestine 75 years ago, advocating for the end of occupation as the sole solution. He condemned Israel's actions in Gaza, supporting Palestinian resistance and demanding an immediate cessation of the conflict and recognition of Palestinian rights.
