British designer John Galliano is stepping down from his role as artistic director at Paris-based Maison Margiela after a decade of leadership. No successor has been named.

"John made it the most cutting-edge couture house in the world," said Renzo Rosso, chairman of Italy's OTB Group, which owns Maison Margiela. Rosso praised Galliano's decade-long tenure, noting, "The past 10 years of incredibly intense work, amazing shows, and installations, along with extraordinary beautiful products, have set the stage for the future."

Galliano, renowned for his theatrical runway displays, expressed his gratitude to Rosso for providing him with a fresh opportunity, stating, "I continue to atone, and I will never stop dreaming." Galliano's career took a downturn in 2011 when he was dismissed from Christian Dior following antisemitic remarks made in a Paris bar.

In a statement, Galliano reflected on his journey, saying, "My wings mended, 10 years later, I am forever grateful for this safe space to create and his unwavering support." His first runway show for Maison Margiela took place in January 2015 in London, featuring a small couture collection presented to a select audience of about 100. This marked the beginning of his comeback as a designer.

Galliano's career highlights include his appointment as head designer at Givenchy in 1995, followed by his role as creative director at Christian Dior the next year.
