Kacey Musgraves had an unpleasant encounter with a fan during her performance in Tampa, Florida on Friday. The 36-year-old singer, known for her hit song “Deeper Well,” was making her way through the crowd at Amalie Arena when a fan suddenly grabbed and pulled her.
Musgraves halted and exclaimed, “What the f–k?” before continuing her path to the stage. She also expressed her frustration through the microphone, saying, “Jesus f-king Christ.” The incident quickly gained attention on TikTok, where Musgraves’ supporters voiced their outrage in the comments.
“I hate seeing how quickly they stole the smile off her face :( who does that?” one fan commented. Another added, “Even if they aren’t famous, why are we touching other people especially pulling on them?” A third comment read, “Normalize these artists/celebrities defending themselves and watch it stop…cause when they actually react the ones in the wrong in the eyes of the public is the celebrity..”
Musgraves addressed the incident the following night at her Hollywood, Florida show. “Last night, this Tampa b***h,” she said on stage, eliciting laughter and boos from the audience. “I know. She kind of ruined it,” Musgraves continued. “She kind of ruined it for everybody.” She humorously added, “I thought I was gonna have to get real East Texas on her. Take off my earrings.”
Fans on TikTok continued to show their support for Musgraves. “As someone from Tampa, WE DON’T CLAIM HER IM SORRY,” one person commented. Another fan added, “I don’t even blame her rn. Disgusting what happened.” Someone else pointed out, “People being more upset that she called the fan a mean name is crazy if she didn’t put her hands on her this wouldn’t have happened.”
Musgraves is currently on her Deeper Well World Tour, which began on April 28 and will conclude in Nashville on December 7. The tour supports her sixth album, released in March, which includes the Grammy-nominated song “Deeper Well.”
