Fox News anchor Bret Baier recounted the awkward moment that abruptly ended his interview with Kamala Harris on Wednesday night. Despite the vice president's late arrival, her staff insisted on a 'hard wrap' after just over 20 minutes of questioning. 'Madam Vice President, they're wrapping me very hard here,' Baier interjected, noting that there were still 'a lot of things that people want to learn about you and your policies.' This included her shifting stances since her 2019 presidential campaign.
Harris, 59, continued to speak over Baier, urging supporters to visit her campaign website before the interview ended abruptly. 'Madam Vice President, they're giving me a hard wrap here,' Baier repeated. 'And I — well, I thank you for the time,' she responded somewhat awkwardly. 'I thank you for the time,' Baier replied. 'It's good to meet you,' she added.
Baier later revealed that at least four Harris campaign aides were signaling him to end the interview, cutting short the tough questioning just before the half-hour mark. Harris arrived 17 minutes late, Baier informed Fox panel members after the session aired, but her staff still ended the interview after 26 minutes of grilling. 'I'm talking like four people waving their hands like 'It's got to stop,'' the anchor described. 'I had to dismount there at the end.' 'There are so many things and maybe she should do more of these,' he added, referring to Harris' avoidance of direct questions about her own record.
