The General Directorate of Residency under the Ministry of Interior (Mol) declared on Saturday the apprehension of a group of agents in Kuwait, accused of illicitly selling residency visas via sham companies. In a major operation targeting the illegal trade of residency, the department effectively dismantled a group of Syrian nationals implicated in a residency permit fraud. The gang established fake companies, engaged in document forgery, and manipulated official records. This illegal scheme enabled them to register and import numerous workers into the country, demanding hefty fees of up to 500 dinars for internal transfers and 2,000 dinars for recruiting workers from overseas. All individuals involved in the case, including facilitators such as citizen sponsors and other co-conspirators, have been arrested. Legal proceedings have commenced against those detained, and they have been forwarded to the relevant authorities for prosecution. The operation was conducted under the directives of Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Minister of Interior. The Ministry of Interior has reaffirmed its dedication to combating illegal residency trafficking through rigorous and strict measures. Officials have cautioned that any attempts to engage in the trade of residency permits will result in severe penalties, highlighting the continuous efforts to eradicate such illicit activities in the country.
