McLaren's British driver Lando Norris secured the pole position for Sunday's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix with an outstanding performance in the qualifying session on Saturday.
Norris's teammate, Oscar Piastri, finished second in qualifying, while Carlos Sainz claimed the third spot in the final race of the 2024 season.
Lando Norris was in top form at the Yas Marina Circuit.
Red Bull’s Max Verstappen has already sealed the drivers’ world title, finishing fifth at the Las Vegas Grand Prix last month. This marks the Dutch driver's fourth consecutive world title. Notably, Verstappen's first world title victory also occurred in Abu Dhabi in 2021, where he triumphed over Lewis Hamilton in a dramatic season finale at Yas Marina Circuit. Hamilton, who aimed to become the first driver to win eight world titles, has struggled for consistency since that thrilling 2021 battle in Abu Dhabi, as Verstappen has continued to dominate the F1 circuit.
Sunday’s race at Yas Marina will be Hamilton’s final race with Mercedes, as he is set to join Ferrari next year.
