Liverpool have announced the appointment of Arne Slot, current manager of Feyenoord, as the successor to Juergen Klopp for the upcoming season. Slot has been at the helm of Feyenoord since 2021, achieving remarkable success including winning the Eredivisie league title in 2022-23 and the KNVB Cup this season. Additionally, Feyenoord reached the Europa Conference League final in Slot's first season at the club.

In a statement on Feyenoord's website, Slot expressed the difficulty of leaving a club where he has experienced significant achievements and worked with exceptional individuals. However, the opportunity to lead a Premier League team as reputable as Liverpool was too compelling to turn down.

Following Klopp's announcement of his departure from Liverpool at the end of the current season, Slot confirmed on Friday that he would assume the role of Liverpool manager. The official statement from Liverpool Football Club indicated that Slot is set to formally take over as head coach on June 1, 2024, pending a work permit.

During Liverpool's final game of the season, a 2-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers, Klopp led the Anfield crowd in a song dedicated to the incoming manager. Slot's attractive attacking style of play garnered interest from Liverpool, with the club finishing third in the Premier League this season, nine points behind champions Manchester City.

Despite being linked with the Tottenham Hotspur job last season, Slot opted to extend his contract at Feyenoord. However, Liverpool's pursuit successfully enticed the Dutchman to the Premier League. Feyenoord bid Slot a fond farewell after their last league game of the season, acknowledging his significant impact on the club's success.

Feyenoord's general manager, Dennis te Kloese, praised Slot's influence on the club, emphasizing his outstanding professionalism which Liverpool is set to benefit from.
