Following Klopp's announcement of his departure from Liverpool at the end of the current season, Slot confirmed on Friday that he would assume the role of Liverpool manager. The official statement from Liverpool Football Club indicated that Slot is set to formally take over as head coach on June 1, 2024, pending a work permit.
During Liverpool's final game of the season, a 2-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers, Klopp led the Anfield crowd in a song dedicated to the incoming manager. Slot's attractive attacking style of play garnered interest from Liverpool, with the club finishing third in the Premier League this season, nine points behind champions Manchester City.
Despite being linked with the Tottenham Hotspur job last season, Slot opted to extend his contract at Feyenoord. However, Liverpool's pursuit successfully enticed the Dutchman to the Premier League.
