Manchester United's efforts to appoint Rúben Amorim as their manager are currently being delayed due to ongoing negotiations with Sporting over his 30-day notice period. United have communicated their intention to the Portuguese champions to activate Amorim's €10m (£8.3m) release clause and aim to have him in place for the upcoming match against Chelsea on Sunday. However, this may not be feasible unless significant progress is made in the ongoing discussions.

United are scheduled to play six matches within the next 30 days, followed by a Premier League encounter with Everton on 1 December. There is a strong belief within the United executive that the 39-year-old will be appointed well before this date. Following Sporting's victory over Nacional in the Portuguese cup on Tuesday, Amorim commented, "Nobody knows if it was my last match. It's something still not decided... When and if I take that decision, I will say it." Sporting are set to play at home against Estrela Amadora in the league on Friday night.
