A devastating fire in the southern Kuwaiti city of Mangaf claimed the lives of at least 30 workers early Wednesday. The building, which reportedly accommodated nearly 160 employees from the same company, was engulfed in flames. The Health Ministry reported that an additional 50 workers were injured in the incident. The area is known for its dense population of foreign laborers. In a statement on X, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences to the bereaved families, stating, 'The fire mishap in Kuwait City is saddening. My thoughts are with all those who have lost their near and dear ones. I pray that the injured recover at the earliest. The Indian Embassy in Kuwait is closely monitoring the situation and working with the authorities there to assist the affected.' External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also conveyed his shock and condolences over the tragic event, mentioning that the Indian ambassador had visited the site and was gathering more information about the incident. Jaishankar further wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. Meanwhile, Indian Ambassador Adarsh Swaika met with several patients and assured them of comprehensive support from the Embassy, as shared by the Indian embassy in Kuwait on X.
