Several regions in the UAE experienced a significant storm on Wednesday, featuring multiple tornado-like formations. Heavy rains have been affecting Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah, accompanied by hail and dust storms. Authorities in Abu Dhabi utilized social media to alert residents about moderate to heavy rains in Al Ain, providing safety tips for motorists.
Enormous dust devils, resembling tornados, were observed in Kalba, Ras Al Khaimah, as documented in videos shared by the National Centre of Meteorology on Wednesday. The footage showed rains pouring down while massive dust formations swirled across the area.
In another video, lightning striking the ground was visible as cars halted on the road ahead of a massive storm. The video below showcases a towering column of dust looming over vehicles and pedestrians on the road.
Earlier forecasts from the UAE's Met Department indicated that a moist air mass would move from the Arabian Sea towards the country on Thursday and Friday. This movement will coincide with a weak low-pressure system in the upper atmosphere, accompanied by a relatively cold air mass, leading to the formation of convective clouds.
