The Aurora Borealis has had a remarkable year, with our sun's heightened activity producing an impressive light display. Mercedes-Benz has endeavored to encapsulate this awe and wonder by unveiling a special-edition Maybach S680 today at Pebble Beach. Named the Mercedes-Maybach S680 Edition Nordic Glow, this limited-run sedan was inspired by the Aurora and crafted by the company's Manufaktur customization program. The S680 boasts a unique two-tone paint job—Northern Lights Violet Metallic over Moonlight White Metallic—complemented by dark chrome trim from the Maybach Night Series Design Package. The vehicle also features 21-inch multi-spoke wheels styled like champagne flutes, enhancing its elegance.

Inside, Mercedes designers have meticulously crafted the cabin, employing hand-stitched Rose Gray Nappa leather with Amethyst Grey contrast stitching. This luxurious treatment extends to the steering wheel, rear seat folding tables, and pillows, harmonizing with the Manufaktur natural-grain dark walnut trim arranged in a herringbone pattern. The Mercedes-Maybach logo is prominently featured on the high-pile floor and trunk mats, which also include Rose Gray Nappa leather piping. An "Edition Nordic Glow 1 of 50" badge is affixed to the center console. The rear seats offer additional comfort and convenience with the Executive Rear Seat Package Plus, which includes heated and cooled cupholders, a refrigerator, and champagne flutes.

Mercedes plans to produce only 50 of these exclusive sedans, specifically for the US market, with deliveries expected later this year. The starting price is set at $340,150, which includes the $1,150 destination charge. While there are no powertrain upgrades mentioned, the S680 is equipped with a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V-12 engine that delivers 621 horsepower.
