Actor Michael B. Jordan, renowned for his groundbreaking directorial debut with Creed III, is poised to direct and star in a fresh adaptation of the iconic film The Thomas Crown Affair. This venture, developed in partnership with Amazon MGM Studios, will be exclusively released in theaters globally, as reported by Deadline.

Deadline sources reveal that Jordan will not only helm the project but also assume the lead role through his production company, Outlier Society, in collaboration with Elizabeth Raposo. Outlier Society maintains a first-look film deal and an overall TV deal with Amazon MGM, according to Deadline. The upcoming film marks the third installment of The Thomas Crown Affair, following the 1999 rendition featuring Pierce Brosnan as the debonair millionaire with a flair for art theft and Rene Russo as the insurance investigator who becomes romantically involved with him. The original 1968 film starred Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway, directed by Norman Jewison.

Jordan's interpretation of Thomas Crown promises to be a fresh opportunity for him to exhibit his versatile acting range, combining charm with intricate character development. Following the triumph of Creed III, which reportedly set a franchise record with a USD 58.6 million opening and grossed USD 276 million worldwide, Jordan is keen to return to directing. The film's script, crafted by Drew Pearce, builds upon drafts by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson; plot specifics remain undisclosed, according to Deadline.

As the next phase, Jordan and his team will seek a co-star to complement his performance and enhance the film's appeal. Producers for the film include Patrick McCormick, Marc Toberoff, and executive producer Alan Trustman, who penned the original 1968 screenplay.
