Mom of the year. Armie Hammer’s mother, Dru Hammer, paid for the disgraced actor’s vasectomy when he turned 38 in August. The pair discussed this unusual birthday gift when Dru appeared on Monday’s episode of her famous son’s “The Armie HammerTime” podcast.

“So I call Armie and I go, ‘Armie, what would you like for your birthday this year?’ And he goes, ‘Oh, I don’t know, maybe money, whatever.’ And I was like, ‘I believe I’m going to give you a vasectomy,’” Dru recalled. Armie, who has two children, daughter Harper, 9, and son Ford, 7, with his ex-wife Elizabeth Chambers, and was exiled from Hollywood after facing allegations of sexual assault and cannibalism, said that he didn’t hesitate getting the vasectomy when he went to the doctor’s office.

“He was like, ‘Are you sure you wanna do this?’ I’m like, ‘I have two beautiful kids. I don’t want any more kids. I’m good to go,’” the “Call Me By Your Name” actor recalled. “They try to talk you out of it. I’m like, ‘You’re not going to talk me out of it. I’m done. I’m good,’” he added.

Armie explained that after his meeting with the doctor, he had to inform the receptionist that his mom was paying for the surgical procedure. “The receptionist was like, ‘Are you gonna be putting this on insurance?’ I go, ‘Actually, I don’t have insurance.’ She goes, ‘What?’ I go, ‘Yeah, I haven’t had insurance for years.’ She was like, ‘Oh, okay. Are you going to be putting it on a credit card?’ And I go, ‘My credit cards won’t cover this. My mother’s going to be calling you and she’s going to be paying for it.’” And she was looking down and she goes, ‘What?’ And I go, ‘Yes, my mother gave me this as a birthday present,’” Armie continued. “You could tell she was hearing something and like [thinks], ‘I’ve never heard… what are you talking about?’ So yeah, my mom got me a vasectomy for my birthday.”

Dru, who is religious, said she wishes her son would not have sex outside of marriage. “But that isn’t gonna happen,” she noted, adding, “So I know there are these young girls that would love to have Armie Hammer’s baby.” “Maybe when I had money, they would,” Armie interjected, referring to his public downfall. Dru said that she believes her son will stage a comeback and praised him for owning his “wrongdoings” in his interview with Piers Morgan over the summer.

Armie’s career plummeted after he was accused of sexual assault, physical abuse, and cannibalistic fantasies in 2021. He was dropped by his agent, publicist, and other members of his team while denying the allegations. The LA County District Attorney’s Office confirmed last year that Armie would not be charged with sexual assault.

In July, Armie addressed the cannibalism allegations on “Piers Morgan Uncensored.” He denied he’s ever eaten human flesh and revealed he was suicidal after the career-ending scandal. On the podcast, Armie’s mother defended her son against all the allegations and noted that he’s been “completely exonerated” in the case. “My son was not criminally wrong,’” Dru said. “If there was a smidgeon of things that were wrong that you did, as far as a rape accusation, they would have nailed you —pardon the pun,” she said.

Armie launched his podcast last month. He said in a video posted on Instagram that he aims to host “long-form, interesting conversations with people who have tools or skills or have acquired wisdom… that I don’t know [and] I want to learn.”
