Muscat International Airport in Oman has implemented more stringent regulations for passengers traveling to or through the country during boarding. Effective from August 4, 2024, these new measures involve a modification to the boarding pass system (PBS) timing, situated after the check-in counters and prior to passport control. Travelers will be prohibited from passing this point 40 minutes before the flight's scheduled departure. Meanwhile, departure gates will still shut 20 minutes before takeoff, maintaining the previous protocol. The airport has notified passengers of this update through a notice, aimed at ensuring efficient procedure handling and punctual flight departures. This timing adjustment is designed to facilitate more effective passport control and security checks. All passengers are urged to comply with these changes for a seamless travel experience. Oman Air, the Sultanate's national carrier, has also issued a notice following the airport's announcement, reiterating that their check-in procedures will continue to close 60 minutes before the flight's departure.
