Handling traffic violations and substantial fines can be a source of stress, especially when the payment process is unclear, making the situation even more nerve-wracking. Non-payable fines, commonly known as blocked or locked fines, can initially be quite perplexing. These fines usually include black points alongside the financial penalty. The amount of such fines is contingent on the gravity of the violation; for instance, exceeding speed limits might lead to a blocked fine of Dh500, while driving under the influence could result in a Dh2,000 fine.
Most individuals settle their traffic fines online, but this option is unavailable for non-payable fines. To address this in Dubai, drivers need to reach out to the traffic department either by emailing ps-t@dubaipolice.gov.ae or by visiting specific departments such as the Traffic Department of Deira Traffic (opposite Terminal 2) or the Traffic Department of Barsha Traffic (located near Mall of the Emirates, facing Sheikh Zayed Road). Drivers must present their Emirates ID and driving license at a police station, where the black points will be transferred from their vehicle licenses to their driving licenses, enabling them to pay the fine immediately.
Previously, in Abu Dhabi, non-payable fines could only be paid at designated Traffic Police Service Centres, but now, motorists in the capital can handle these fines both online and at police stations. To resolve non-payable fines in Abu Dhabi, open the TAMM mobile app, where fines are displayed. An orange dot indicates a non-payable fine due to black points. Click 'pay all' and proceed by selecting the orange dot. The app will then prompt you to transfer the black points to your driving license to make the fine payable.
There are two methods to transfer black points: 'transfer to my license' and 'transfer from another traffic profile'. For 'transfer to my license', select the fine, enter the OTP received via SMS, and click 'verify & submit'. This will transfer the black points to your driving license, unlocking the fine for payment. For 'transfer from another traffic profile', enter the traffic fine number, receive an OTP, enter it, and click 'verify & submit'. This will also transfer the black points, allowing you to pay the fine.
