Searchers discovered no survivors amidst the wreckage of a Russian helicopter that crashed on the far eastern peninsula of Kamchatka, carrying 22 people, according to state news agency TASS on Sunday.

The Mi-8T helicopter had departed from a base near the Vachkazhets volcano. The Kamchatka peninsula, located approximately 7,100 km (4,400 miles) east of Moscow, experienced a cyclone over the weekend, with intense winds and rain, but the exact cause of the crash remains uncertain.
