Attention, artists based in the UAE: An opportunity awaits to exhibit your creations in Dubai. The emirate has recently announced an open call for artworks intended for the city's roundabouts. Dubai Culture, in collaboration with the Dubai Municipality and the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), is inviting all Emirati and UAE-based artists, designers, and architects to present innovative ideas and proposals for unique art installations. These installations are planned to be installed at key roundabouts across the emirate, aiming to demonstrate how local artistic practices integrate with Dubai's urban and natural landscapes.

To participate, Dubai Culture began accepting applications on June 11, with a deadline set for July 11. A panel of experts and artists will evaluate the applications and choose the projects that qualify. Winners will receive a cash prize for each project, which will cover the expenses related to design, materials, fabrication, and installation at the selected locations. Artists and creative individuals interested in joining this initiative can find the application form and further details at: https://dubaiculture.gov.ae/en/events/Roundabout-Open-Call-24.

Requirements for applicants include submitting innovative ideas that reflect a commitment to innovation and showcase local cultural diversity. Artists must also utilize sustainable materials in their artworks, designed to withstand environmental and weather conditions, and high temperatures, without obstructing traffic flow at the targeted roundabouts. The proposal should include a detailed work plan to ensure safety and security for both the public and the artwork. It must be original, contemporary, and have never been exhibited or produced before. Additionally, the artist or group must possess substantial experience in creating installation artworks.

This open call is part of a series of artistic commissions initiated by the Authority to implement installation artworks that transform Dubai’s streets, neighborhoods, and public spaces into tourist and cultural destinations. This project is also aligned with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, which aims to enhance the quality of life for residents through people-centric development.
