The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi now offers cashless payment options, enhancing convenience for those who prefer not to carry cash. Previously, the embassy only accepted cash payments. However, an app is now available for electronic wallet transactions. The digital wallet, PayIt, is supported by First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) and can be downloaded from the App Store or Play Store. UAE residents with a valid Emirates ID can register for a PayIt account, regardless of their bank preference. The app is free to use and incurs no additional fees. Users do not need to have an account with FAB; they can link any bank to their PayIt account for funding.
"We encourage our fellow Filipinos to take advantage of this new service. The embassy is committed to finding ways to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for our countrymen," said Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Alfonso Ferdinand A. Ver in an interview with Khaleej Times. "Filipinos are familiar with using smartphones for various public services, such as visa renewals and utility bill payments. By offering e-payment as a modern alternative to cash, we aim to enhance our services and provide a more pleasant experience for our clients," he added.
This partnership between the Philippine Embassy and FAB is part of a series of events celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the UAE and the Philippines.
