President Sheikh Mohamed held a meeting today with King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The discussions centered on the robust fraternal bonds between the two countries and their joint efforts in promoting sustainable development, prosperity, and stability. The meeting occurred during an official reception at Basman Palace in Amman, where King Abdullah warmly greeted the UAE President and his delegation, who are currently on a working visit to Jordan.
During the session, the leaders explored ongoing bilateral cooperation in various sectors including the economy, investment, sustainable development, food security, renewable energy, and other critical areas. They reiterated their commitment to discovering new avenues for collaboration and establishing strategic economic partnerships that align with the developmental aspirations of both nations.
President Sheikh Mohamed and King Abdullah highlighted the enduring ties between their countries, which date back to the era of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the late King Hussein bin Talal. They also emphasized the importance of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement signed during the visit, viewing it as a significant step forward in their long-standing economic relations.
The leaders also addressed several regional and international concerns, particularly the situation in the Middle East, including developments in Gaza and Lebanon. They underscored the necessity of intensifying efforts to achieve a ceasefire and safeguard civilians in line with international humanitarian law, while also advancing joint initiatives to tackle the ongoing humanitarian crisis. They further stressed the importance of preventing the conflict from escalating and endangering regional stability, and working towards a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace based on the two-state solution.
Sheikh Mohamed commended Jordan's historical support for the Palestinian people and expressed gratitude for Jordan's contributions to alleviating the humanitarian situation in Gaza. Both leaders acknowledged the importance of strengthening Arab cooperation, both bilaterally and collectively, given the current regional challenges.
The meeting was attended by several high-ranking officials from both the UAE and Jordan, including Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi; Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Adviser for Special Affairs at the Presidential Court; Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for National Security; Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology; Humaid Obaid Abu Shabas, Chairman of the UAE Accountability Authority; Jabr Ghanem Al Suwaidi, Minister of State; Faisal Al Bannai, Adviser to the UAE President for Strategic Research and Advanced Technology Affairs; Khaldoun Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority; Counselor Hamad Al Matrooshi, Chargé d'Affaires of the UAE Embassy in Amman, and a number of senior officials. From the Jordanian side, attendees included Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi.
